First Day

Wake up alone, fix my coffee
sit and ponder the day, New Year's Day
Just another day
Happy day
celebratory meal
songs and sundaes.
third wheel date
animated movie
table top easel
blank canvas
blank paper
blank thoughts
blank imagination
dog stained carpet
chair springs sprung
He doesn't know
Life can't get no better
life could get different
New Year's Day!!

Carol, good capsule of a day in your life. I like your honest descriptions. And thanks for pointing out the typo in my poem, Antiquated Lady. I'll edit it. James Tate

It appears you had a rather quiet New Years Day without the usual fanfare. Mine was quite similar. You have described everything quite well.

Hi Doris. Thanks for calling. Life summed up here with no punches pulled. I'm old and 5stone overweight so my wife would pay me to not behave like the last perfect man. Hope everything flows for you in the new year. Eamon

My sentiments exactly. Just another "carpet stained" day. Love, Dave
