Firefly

If I had to use one word to describe our relationship it would be ‘dim’ Never something But never nothing No, we never talked about it like we were each others’ sun Maybe a flickering star at best Like a needle in a haystack It wasn’t apparent to everyone But at least it was there A spark in the dark always seems brighter than it is So when it was snuffed out I went blind for a second All I had were questions The answers were right in front of me But alas, it was too dark to see So I ran into anything that felt like light I realize that I hate being a moth If I could be a firefly instead I think I’d be happier We’d be happier, not that there is a ‘we’ anymore A part of me thinks maybe you’d come flapping back to me If I could be a firefly
