Fireflies Gave Him Hope

White faced barn owl was looking for his own barn He had been chased away from his beloved by his challenger It hurt that she had preferred the bully to his sappy lovingness There is something better for you, the meadow winds said. He did not believe it, until the fireflies began to surround him A comforting army of blinking soldiers, gave him hope Yes, he thought, there will be sweeter future days. There is a better woman out there for me, And of course, there was.
