Fire of Birth

fiercely burning fire
setting the outback ablaze
devastating all

the thunder of hoofs as desperate animals flee
birds overhead fleeing the greedy flames, that
devour all they met leaving charred remains
of those too weak, sick or even just too slow
why you ask? Well my child sometimes you need
to burn out the dead and useless so new life
can come to be. A fresh start with verdant green
new growth springing up everywhere leading
to new birth of animals. The old now gone and forgotten
if only life were as easy.

fire of purity
cleansing and reaffirming
from death comes new birth

In 2003 in kelowna we had a huge fire and it is intresting to see how nature is reclaiming the scorched land.
