Fire Burns

hope you feel the fire burn

the fire that once lit up

the lights in our hearts

is now the fire surrounding

the broken pieces

of my shattered heart

this is not a stupid

cheesy love poem

it's a vulnerable explosive

of the hurt that's been hiding

for too long

hope you feel the fire burn

burn inside

dissolving into regret

so I'm not who you thought I was

and you're not who you used to be

flaming hot mess we are

insecure about ourselves

remembering only what was

empty voids are all that remain
