Finding the man called Niggle

I know a Leaf painting
Well decorated and prized
Painted to hold what life meant for this youngling
But it was the Tree that arised

A Tree with leaves from his life’s ventures
Which drew him evermore into a new place
A land and home of lighter mirrors
Where the pace was slow and light , not dark and not a race

To this Leaf, To this Tree, To this Land - He left
Of what loss was this to the world bereft
Perhaps other will find and follow
The trail of this youngling into this forgotten Hollow

[Based on the J.R.R. Tolkien short story “Leaf by Niggle”]
