Finding Happiness

Happiness breeds happiness, a smile begets a smile,
a joyful moment given, if even for a while.
A helping hand reached out, to lift a weary soul,
coin for a beggar’s cup, let giving be your goal.

A shoulder for a strange, to help lessen his load
an ear to hear his plea, or lest he might explode.
Compassion is the answer, why must we hide and wait
reach out, speak up, engage, and take control of fate.

If happiness breeds happiness, then that must be our choice
let joy and love ring out, hope be heard in our voice.
I’m weary of bad press, long for the good in man
not all the world is lost, there is a master plan.

If we but learn to listen, if we but learn to care
with God’s help we can find an answer to our prayer!
