Find Your True Self

We have been robbed of the basic,
hands on experience of life.
We do not till the soil for survival
We do not meet to erect a new barn
We do not wallow in birth, messy
and aromatic with the scents
of new life, new blood, old sweat.
Too clean
Too technological
Too far from our true selves
We shield the child from the
perception of harshness, from
wakes and funerals and bad news
To see the world for what it is
To see the man for who he is
To see the woman for who she is
Refreshing, to have sight, real sight
Find your true self
Believe in it
Let it run wild through the mud,
dirt, trees, winds and grass
Let it be free.
