Figment of My Imagination

was he even there?
   i blinked their three faces.
     he says
        “Are you still writing poetry?”
             I cheer up
                “Yes, I am”
                     you see,
most people don’t get me!
i hear,
   “i don’t get it”  or
        they roll their eyes
            or i am force-feeding a read
                for an opinion
as they scratch their heads.
   still what a joy to have friends online.
       and a God who sends an angel
           as if he was a figment of my imagination.
hold still, dear poet
   you still exist.

M. L. Kiser April 10, 2019 at 7:06 PM I actually heard someone say once, "I don't like to have to think when I read". Now, hearing that, I had to wonder how many people have that attitude. Poetry makes us think; it works an important muscle, the brain. No wonder this world is a mess...but, we keep writing hoping that at least one more individual will...think.
