A place where darkness
Is strong and absorbs the light
With evils so wrong
No one knows what will be done
To the innocent people
Even though they were strong

A place where nasty sins
Grow fiercer than any place else
Where shadows and sorrows
Seem to pierce through the rays
The embrace of sunshine
Has seen many better days

A place where fear discourages
The pure of heart to accept
Help from those who would give them
A chance to be cleared of charges
That these wicked groups
Wish to punish them so horribly for

A place where guns and knives
Are more than mere arms
These mean that hatred has won
And the grace from God
Is being rejected by them so
Hope is no longer known

A place where horrors
Are brought into the light
Leaving even the sunrise
Compromised by fright
And raining down terrors
Through these sad lives

A place where silence
Is better than a voice
Because the Taliban
Leaves most without choice
Discouraging the faith
That might make a way

A place where most realize
They hope to avoid
Because all who live there
Are sought to be destroyed
By angry radicals
Who seek out the defenseless

A place where God knows
There is so much need
For goodness and kindness
The light that twinkles in eyes
Who know that love is
The only answer to ease this battle

This is a war between right and wrong
Only God’s kindness
Breathed softly in a song
Consoles the innocent
With assurance that in time
God will rain down justice on this fight for souls
