Fight Against Time
Has it been 18 days; has it been 5 months
Has it always been this way
a crippled mind clinging to a hollow echo
of a blue jay flying away
Where have you been...when I needed you the most
where were you...when it was your name escaping my lips
well here, let me curse it, then let's see if you respond this time
Why do you have to be so far away, do you despise me
couldn't you take a flight to see me
I'd swim oceans for you, tempt death and sharks alike
we were promised jetpacks so maybe I can fly to see you
I miss you...I...I...
I kept telling myself I shouldn't care
but these chain of events bonding us together
along with yard of thread I tied to your shoes
bind me to you, a fly to a trap
We could last, a myth unable to be truth
We could last, maybe fiction but I treat it like reality
hopelessly chasing your shadow so at least mine could be happy
instead of the entirety of me chasing you for eternity
I've built a dungeon around myself, chrome bars included
a promise to myself it was home 'till you make your return
but you never came
Do you need your own statue of liberty to guide you back
life seems empty, a little more empty living without you
I wish I had the intelligence and skills to build a time machine
to return you back to me so you can hear my famous three words
History is pain, a soundtrack to my heart breaking
time is war and I am peace, well so I have myself believing
but if war is breaking me, what do I turn into
The love I have for you is a tsunami
sharing my heart, a hurricane, with the pain of being away from you
18 days, too long of a wait
5 months,5 months and I...
I'm still in love with you
but not by choice, by reaction
I love you but how can I love someone who slayed the life out of me
I love you but only enough to take back what you stole from me
why'd you steal my heart from me
why'd you steal from me...
I fought against my own life
I fought against time to make you happy
so why'd you steal my heart and my happiness from me...
why'd you steal from me...
