Fig Leaf

Hid from the world, None of this they must see, Concealed from my friends, This to them may be strange, Cloaked from my home, Phantom I may seem to be, Caught in a web of perplexities, I fight to be freed, Entangled in a replayed contest, I persevere to conquer, Edged in by opposing forces, I push against the barriers, Though none of this I can comprehend, I'm unperturbed like a river at dawn. April 14, 2021, This or That, Vol. 11 Poetry Contest: Fig Leaf, Edward Ibeh.
