Fifty Shades of Mourning

The dark evening has a coolness
and a long stretch
past the silence, past the love, past the painful places
of a heart abandoned and tearful.

The darker evening has energy draining
and no one can help
trapped in secret voids
a mind of aching sadness.

The darkest evening
an empty place an empty space
a silence suspending the soul
so quiet, so still, so perfectly sad an ending
