Fifteen Fabulous Felines Pet

A cacophony of cats in my life.
Not one or two, but fifteen!
Each,who along with joy,
brought sadness and strife!
All shapes and sizes with grand
and most loving personalities.

The Maine Koone was the smallest
of all.
Maxine was pedigreed and came
home as a present for my daughter
as a surprise, one fall.

My oldest cat,Luvey,lived to be
a sprightly twenty years old!
A tortoiseshell petite cat,fun and
a loving, furry,cloud to hold.

Kelly came next, a handsome red tabby.
A happy, mellow fellow who pranced
with such grace!
He really was happy and snazzy.

Lucey came later, a Ragdoll prize of a cat,
about to be put down!
I fought and won to stop her date with an
imminent death showdown!

I have 15 wooden boxes that have their
cremains..
Each box carved, beloved,and my
housecoat with lost cat tear stains.

I fed them fluids by IV,medications food,
on a special stand.
And countless nights in emergency vet
rooms, wringing my hopeless hands.

My last cat, Luvey lost her ability to see
and walk.
I placed her in a wheelchair and moved
her about.
For I am not one when faced with a challenge,
to balk!

I can't list all their names of how
fun and charming they were.
Just know, that I think of myself as a cat..
Minus the fur!

.........................................
* I do know how to spell the correct name of the
word after breed. It comes out as Maine ****.
Sorry I was unable to use the correct spelling.
She was a regal cat, deserving of her correct
breed name and feline heritage.

How did I miss this fabulous gem, please accept my apologies sweet poet, but I have been away for a few days! This is such fun to read about your wonderful fur children, each one a character in it's own right. Congrats on your well deserved win Panagiota. You really have the kindest soul. Ann, the contest winners were only announced yesterday. No apologies, please, I was offline a lot and I did not know. Pity I can't post pictures. Well, if I get a new iPad, I will be able to. However, am conflicted about images with a poem. I would rather see a plain poem and be judged on its written veracity to stir up images. I try not to look at any images. I want to see what a poet pens only. I saw youf "Bill" no picture needed..your soul revealed him. Love, Panagiota

Hello Panagiota … our pets are not pets really, they are companions who give unconditional love no matter how we feel at the time. We can never forget them - thank you Panagiota - Lindsay

I love cats as well, Panagiota mou ,my son had a tabby kitten, they were besotted with each other - he was 6, it was his first day of school, the cat always kept in the back garden. Our domestic help left the gate upon and in front we have palisade fencing, she got through that and not even 30 yards from or house there was our Tabby kitten lying squashed on the road. what a tearful day was Ricky's first day at school. Hugs Panagiota, I sense the love you have for your cats. Hugs, Jenn.

Oh, this kills me. Poor Ricky and you. I go nuts finding dead cats on the road. Horrible. I wish I could post all 15 images, cats from heaven. One of my cats had kittens. I never saw a cat giving birth I Amost fainted. I traveled with one from Chicago to CA. In summer with no AC, she was small, she hung on my shoulders to keep cool. She later fell out of a3 story building and survived. And broke her palate. Luvey almost died is surgery, they gave her too much anesthesia, I said, out of my way, I can wake her up and I did. good grief, how you were not able to say that word that I know you meant. GIVE me a break, Soup. Panagiota, this overflows with the love you feel for those cats. I am so pleased to have a friend that is so good to her cats. I had two that got really bad toward the end, and I also tried so hard to keep them alive. Finally I had to face the fact and let them be put down. I had others but they developed bad habits and I found other homes for them. Still looking for that perfect cat like Callie was

Thanks for standing up for me, you have three biggies going for you soul, love and one heck of a spine! No jellyfish are you. Ends come for cats, yes. But I don't give up easily. I never have. Too many vets off cats too soon. My cats have have alternative vets and acupuncture, too. I could have written an easy, cute poem about any. No, I chose the hard way. And I see it's a hated poem as always. )) like my cats, my poetic end is staring at me. Cats are a delight. Poetry is too painful too keep on. It's like slamming a door in my face. It hurts. just me xxx

Darlene, dear friend, I understand your connection to cats. I do hope you have a cat one day. Someone gave me my first. I said, I did not want a cat. He said try her for one night. I did. And kept adding. I had five cats at one time years ago. For me, it is heaven.)) just me xxx
