Fervently
Don’t be so flippant my weird teacher said
Trying to scold me with
A nasty glare
I was entranced! A vocabulary word
To learn! Hooray!
Me myself and I loved a new word.
That night scanning the dictionary I captured other words:
Feather-like
Figuratively
And
Finance
I so fervently wanted to impress
My teacher so I used
Them all like a real nerd.
I used free-based, fervent, Fritz
and farce on Wednesday
A day she cut me from the herd.
She’s way too smart the teacher said.
I know how to dumb students down; but I have
No teaching skills that smarten one up.
So I moved up to 2nd grade.
