Fenced In

Windows that aren’t real windows.
Outside is fake too.
The fence is real though, I tried.
Crayons aren’t sharp.
But maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be.
They turn the phones off at this time.
And force us outdoors.
But it’s just another layer, another layer…
When I’m bored, I shower.
I shower with flip flops.
I shower in the afternoon when everyone is sleeping.
In this hidden place.
I can spin around, and hum, and laugh to myself.
I try to hide that kind of behavior.
So they will eventually let me leave.
