Felis Catus
They stalk me.
those ankle-panthers.
I try to negotiate a way
into their affections,
yet they scorn chin tickles,
belly rubs,
my hesitant ear petting.
Too soon
they strut away,
tails stiff in the air
flashing that old pink
one eye.
