Feeling Lousy

Nothing is so distressing as a sore aching back Perhaps, a bad cold with a harsh coughing hack Both can interrupt a long, well-planned excursion Frankly to both, I have a strong personal aversion. Written April 1, 2022

I've been suffering with lower back pain for about four days now. I don't know whether it's arthritis in my lower spine or a kidney infection. I've ruled out the latter because I have no other symptoms. I've been using lidocaine patches and hoping it'll go away. Anyway, that's the background for the poem.
