Feeling Blue

Listen to poem:
I was feeling blue tonight. Remembering the pain of you leaving again. When our children blamed me. Blue is my favourite colour. Light blue especially. Reminding me of clear summer skies. And warm goodbyes. Navy blue of night, stars bright. Moon reflected on still water. Skinny dips and deep kisses Before I became your Mrs. Music can be blue too. To match my mood. When I think of you, or try not to...as the case may be. Black and blue, my battered heart. Right from the start. No Valentine for me. I'm done with love you see.

Thank you for the high placement Constance. There are so many accents in this wee country, those of us in the north have trouble understanding those in the south.

Thank you Mark. To me it proves how subjective the judging can be. I am not everybody's cup of tea.

And I am back to thank you again Charlie. I am usually at the bottom end. A big thrill for me to climb the charts this way.

Hi Wendy. I am at last "in my power" now that I am out from under his thumb.

I am sure that writing this beautiful sad poem was cathartic Jean. Your reflections of your passionate past combined with the beauty of nature gives this piece much depth with some lovely imagery. It is never too late to find love. Blessings, Connie ; ) 7

I do feel blessed having come through that trauma along with my daughters Connie. Of course I live in hope. Thank you for your visit.

Jean, I love how you mixed in the other meaning of blue as sadness. Excellently done.

Dolly Parton says love is like a butterfly James. If it still wants to land on my shoulder, that's fine by me. But I won't hold my breath.

This is sad and especially with blue being your favorite color and then to experience the deepest shade of it in life is truly sad. Maybe you should pick a new favorite color. Green is nice. :) Nicely done Jean.

But Van Morrison sang about it not easy Bein' Green Chris. I think I might change to red. The colour of anger, the colour of desire and the colour of fire. That about sums me up.

Beautiful but sad...You have much love to still give

That's true Tim. But after six years of "putting myself out there", I've had enough of being treated badly to last a lifetime. C'est la vie. It's knitting from now on for me.

I suggest a puppy:) Nothing like a dog to make one feel loved, Jean. Your sadness makes me sad:(

Don't be sad Daniel. Sometimes my past creeps up on me but I am truly blessed. If I ever stop gallivanting at weekends then I might consider your suggestion. Thank you.

Hiding your eyes? In case I might see you cry now you are no longer my Valentine?

Try a stroll on the beach at dawns first light to bring some color to your blue sweet Jean... well done.

Well Charlie, I'm a new woman this evening. There's nothing like a stroll on a Donegal beach to lift the spirits. Thanks again.

I'm afraid at the temperature's in Ireland these recent dawns, my lips would end up blue too! But I promise to have a stroll later today. I do love to be beside the sea. Thank you Charlie.
