Feeling Blue
In pursuit of happiness, you follow
persuasive shadows tethered to the night.
And fall into a pit of depression,
plunged into darkness where there is no light.
Seductive smiles draw you into the dark,
where resistance is slowly stripped away.
And your innocence is stolen by lies,
introducing you to the games fools play.
Your pain is numbed by drugs and alcohol,
under whose tutelage your heart forgets.
And your fragile heart's constantly breaking;
shattering into a thousand regrets.
Denial obscures your reality;
while leaving you puzzled and feeling blue.
And you don't know why your life feels empty,
for you're blind to what's happening to you.
