This is a powerful little poem that immediately immerses the reader in a dark, mournful atmosphere. It's highly effective due to its vivid imagery and careful line breaks.

Great description of the picture. Places like these always make me take a second look, but not by the stones but by the lives it cradles. There is a Catholic church a few blocks from me that looks like this, and I always have to take a second look, but also the sign of the cross for the Eucharist, it holds in the sanctuary.
