Fear's Hostage
Paralyzing uncertainty
Of the things not seen
Shadows of unknown origins
That invade our very dreams
Sometimes, it's the sounds
That go bump in the night
It hijacks our minds
And fills us with fright
Imaginations run wild
As we shiver and shake
Our voice has betrayed us
Not a sound can we make
Our eyes closed so tightly
As we cover our head
For fear of the monster
That lives under our bed
Imaginary footsteps
Keeps time with our heart
As their beats intertwine
Like two lovers apart
The things in our closet
Scares us the most
It's filled with our nightmares
Of goblins and ghosts
The shadows start fading
As the sun starts to rise
The darkness is gone
And we open our eyes
The room is now void
Of nighttime's intrusion
This, that held us hostage,
Was just an illusion
