Fear of Wings
FEAR OF WINGS
the birds bump, bruise, bleed
swarm the air
the chill of November
screams cling to snow
V V V
V V V V
pinned on a clothesline
dark mourning clothes
necks turn to stare at stranger
with sallow face
cacophonous wind of wings
V***V***V***V***V***V***V***V***V
the ravens burn this somber town
red clings to orange
gray-black smoke steeple high
V V V
V V V V
the crows in control
of their gangster pavement
stranger weeds through
the darkness that covers the earth
bleeding head wrapped in bondage
VVVVVVVV
VVVVVVVV
VVVVVVVV
the birds mock and feel her fear
she opens the car door
even when closed in
she sees their beady eyes
hears the wretched entertainment
of their caws

VvvvvV
they are still clattering around
inside her head
the dove white limo
moves away slowly
humming a dreadful dirge
