Fear of Freedom
As in Plato’s allegory of the cave,
accustomed to darkness, we disown God’s light,
yet cry out to heavens, asking Him to save
us from thought demons, that make us crouch in fright,
although it’s clear we know not how to behave,
feeding off ego cravings by day and night.
Tragic it is that we look at light askance,
wasting gift of life, choosing not to advance.
