Fear Is Just a Lack of Faith

My gut quakes
as I am reminded
of something
I don't want to face

The thought of it
sears my mind
burning holes in any hope
that I might still have

I grope for a solution
as someone panting for water
crawling upon the sands
of the desert

The fear beats down upon me
as if it were the noonday sun
where no shade exists;
the devil licks his chops

I remember to pray
as the cool living waters
of the Holy Spirit wash over me
soothing my sunburned mind

I am comforted by the Lord.
