first time as a child felt the weight of fear and hate
punishment for innocence of being so young
violation and vile taste gather faceless plate
unrelenting blackness crept up my flesh and stung

thrown into poignant weeping and gnashing of teeth
nauseating existence of egregious beast
smite ignited evil entombed underneath wreath
wrath flicker fragments slowly release healing feast

Child abuse used to be called discipline in my world. I can somewhat relate to this heart wrenching poem Eve. Congratulations on your wonderful win! : )

I have read the poem and the comments below, Eve, and I have been touched by your ugly experience and the way you write about it. No child should ever ever have to go through something so cruel. Time heals, but the scar remains. Thank you for sharing such a deep personal experience. Hugs // paul // congrats on your win.

Congrats to you, my dear Eve, for a well-deserved win! A-7 for this excellent, emotive piece decrying the evils of abuse! No one should have to endure such pain and I am so sorry that you were subjected to such horror, my friend. God bless and hugs. Pandita

I agree with Afzal. A very expressive one, Eve. We can tell that you are familiar with fear and hate. The healing is a great way to end it.

I have no mercy for someone that would even think of violating a child. There is no defense of that act. This write bothers me in so many way, thus it must have succeeded...

The sadness of a stolen childhood never leaves, the bond of trust broken by violence scars and affects ones ability to ever trust anyone without total proof

Thank you, Frederic, there has to be some kind of shield to protect children. Opening my soul here, I was about 8 years old and an uncle tried .. I was lucky to escape through a small opening before it got to bad. Then about 13 mom was going to leave me with him for awhile because I was ill and she didn't want to take me with her.. I broke down in fear and tears and gushed out what had happen... Mom found out later he had been doing it to all the nieces. My dad was very hard, but nothing compare to someone trying to rape a little girl. I still hear his whispers of shhh and don't tell at the age as I am..
