Fear and Friend
as the rain cried on the window
pulling tightly on my pillow
thunderstorms upon the willow
sleepless nights hard to enjoy
my closet door let crawl a spider
squeaking the door opened wider
frightened by this dark provider
taunting with my youth and joy
first covers came to my shoulders
now they cover me all over
underneath the bed is colder,
something fictitious whispered coy
like a new day or horizon
someone sweet had turned the light on
in her arms I slept all night long
good to be a mothers' boy
