Fear

How perverse is this?
Missing that fear,
That shocked
That tasered
That petrified
My limbs
My teacher standing with his cane

The nuns in my school used a yard stick to intimidate students. It always seemed cruel. I like your writing style, David. You say so much with just a few lines...

Corporal punishment can never be condoned, David, especially when practised on minors. Many of us have such recollections. Fortunately the cane has been put aside, but in the process even discipline seems to have evaporated. Regards // paul

At the moment Paul I am teaching JHS students in Japan English. Corporal punishment is no longer used here and in general kids respect authority but sometimes I see teachers roaring at the top of their voices at unruly kids. I disapprove, shouting is a kind of aggression that is also violent in my opinion. I think if kids are not willing to participate in class greater effort should be made to see what they are interested in doing. Im a bit of an Ivan Illich fan when it comes to ideas about education that is offered to kids respectfully..................lol:)

Emotions are memorable, whether they are good or bad. Kind of sad, in a way. Wouldn't it be nice to just forget all the bad stuff.

Your poetic words cover so much territory with so few words, David! Fascinating!

So many emotions tangle around this. Your thoughts truly make you think- about what is happening. ~ Brandy
