Notes About The Poem

Fault of Being Human

In the most anguished moments of my life
times when my mistakes cause me strife
I feel I deserve a birch wood beating
to go unpunished would be cheating
and then I recall
that through it all
with trepidation loomin'
I am only human

Hey no one's perfect, from each mistake we make a lesson is learnt.

I don't believe anyone deserves a beating. We can beat ourselves up over the simplest imperfections but that is what makes us unique.

Not as profound and humbling. We all have imperfections that we must accept. Thanks for reading, Danny.

I know how you feel; it says you're an honest woman. I like the honest way you have expressed it. It's almost as if I can hear you speaking. And I'm sure you always learn from your mistakes. But imagine how boring the world would be if everyone was perfect.

What a nice compliment, Dale, and it's very much appreciated. I long for a world like that, where we're all different but one in which there is no malice.
