Fats

Are you listening to me ... turn off that t.v. he looks like a monkey swinging in a tree, she would yell so mad and I'd be so sad to have to turn away when I was set to sway with the Fat Man. "I found my thrill on Blueberry Hill" and my heart lept when he smiled. My Mamma was a racist who hated Little Richard or Fats while she watched Elvis or Dean and squealed like a teen. I would hurry home from school just to catch my bandstand man as "the wind in the willow played love's sweet melody", and I prayed my Mamma would be late. But, here she'd come right on time yelling at the picture of a genius in his prime. ........ lyrics from "BlueBerry Hill" sung by Fats Domino ~~~~~~~~~~~ for Michele's Music To Your Pen contest ~~~~~~~~~~

One of my favourites ... Mum liked him too! Glad you liked my aardvark. I'm working on a bestiary for my granddaughter, so you'll find another 25 eventually. I'm up to "G" so far ...

Too bad that people still can't always come together and just recognize talent for what it is and leave the race card out. Good message here. Nice tribute to Fats. Good luck in the contest. Keep on writing! Karen

This poem takes me back to the "Archie Bunker ways of my Dad. I do relate to the teachings of a bigoted parent, love them dearly, may they rest in peace. Glad the world has grown sence the fifties. Thanks for sharing this was fun. Judy Riley
