Fathers Love

I have to make life count with you
Because you may be my last
As every sunrise comes a new
To put me in your past..
By a sacred oath I took the day
You came into my life
A promise that I need not pray
But make in sacrifice...
And be the father just below
The one that sits above
Watching everything you do
So you will grow up loved...
And the only thing that God commands
Is the window to my soul
Be halfway open so his hands
Can be reached for me to hold...
The part of me that I would give
Without me thinking twice
The heart in me so you may live
And pass on more than life
