Father To Son

I gave you life
I gave you the means to live
I gave you an identity,
Through you my ancestry
and legacy will be traced.

You are my dreams
My aspirations,
My future is vested in you;
I am your past
Your roots
Your conception.
I am the foundation
on which you stand,
Your past is vested in me.

You cannot forsake me
Nor can you
disown or shun me,
For I am the anchor
without which you will
drift into the wild seas of life!
