Fate's Jape

Fate's cruelty strikes me once again Her fiendish grip on me had already touched me then, To meet you at a time when I've already lost so much, I've already gained fears and even sought death's touch. Fair maiden whose sharp eyes could cut my soul What remains of my heart is a dark empty hole, I'd only bring you a pit of sure despair Leaving you with nothing but my utmost care. Whenever I see you a warmth in me begins to grow, Whenever I see you my vulnerabilities begin to show, Fair maiden whose sharp eyes could see through me To only have met you now is surely fate's cruelty.
