Farewell Mother
Stealing a glance at the wrinkling
Of your aging face, I heave deep sighs
Biting hard on my lips, struggling
To hold back saltless tears from my eyes
No use! They rain down my cheeks
Knowing this is the perfect moment
In torrents they pour, pour, pour,
Making a mess of the thing around my neck
I look out the window as clouds gather
Saluting one another with
Clattering sounds of lands farther
Than the reach of my senses, including the sixth
I wipe my watering holes quickly
Fearing you may be awakened anytime
By the bellows and exchanges of blows
Between angels and demons in the night sky
My companions: Good and Evil,
Toss me left and right
As Reality, like a ghoulish weevil,
Paints a picture so lucid and bright
Heaven's wetness starts to pelt
Your sleeping body like a petty thief
In portions that help to melt
My doubts and fuel my anger and grief
No more waiting on the Lord!
No more patience for the fattest bone!
The Devil now has this dog's soul!
These tears have made me stone cold!
Forgive me mother, have mercy on me
You have been my God, my heart and
My world. I am leaving home to see
Myself someday clothed in gold or else... in sand.
