Notes About The Poem

Farewell, Mon Amour

Oh, my…oh…my sad heart’s bang on broke,
Bidding adieu, to my lover, a sweet bloke.
A tall, brunette sailor, going back to the sea.
In duress, I moaned, what’s to become of me?

Without his eyes, the deep color of the sea.
And his tanned ,muscular arms to encircle me.
I rested my arms on the railing, as his ship pulled away,
Knowing, I’d recall this moment forever and a day.

Come back, come back, dearest sailor of mine.
To love me once again and stroll in God’s sunshine!

Pangie, I see from your replies this poem speaks of truth. Though you and your sailor may never meet again, sweet memories will always remain. A lovely wistful poem of love. Belle

Yes, Belle, I can close my eyes and he’s next to me. Uniform, spiffy white, and such great eyes. His ship came to Chicago for a visit. They were to be here for a week! But the there was a malfunction and they stayed~the best summer of my life. We both had to learn each others language. I got to have lunch aboard ship with captain the top crew. Awesome. A love filled summer. Pangie

Just wanted to repeat, he was not part of the USA navy.so We both knew he was not returning. I never said he was. …I could write that in the poem, but I was writing about a space in my life. I am glad I experienced it. I learned a foreign language in the process. Again, thanks,))

Hi Paula, I appreciate your support, always. This was autobiographical. It’s the saddest thing to see your love going away. The joy of my life…gone forever in the sunset! Hope your day had glory in it, Pangie
