Farewell, Dear America

Farewell, dear America, farewell for now.
The gold that once gleamed bright and shiny
upon a hill built through toil,
built with faith and dreams,
is for many just a glimmer
far away, it seems.

Built by those in revolt
against kings and unfair tax,
built by those in chains
with stripes on their backs,
built by those whose beliefs
were stronger than those
who wanted their own brand
of tyranny imposed.

Farewell, dear America, farewell for now.
Miss Liberty hasn't taken her final bow.
She is patient and caring.
She has seen the worst and the best.
She carries the torch high
in memory of those who now rest,
who fought the good fight,
who gave America their all,
who sacrificed everything
to answer the Liberty Bell's call.

We shall not bow down, nor bend a knee.
We shall not live in fear, nor flee.
This is our country, our land, our home,
where voices and deeds
have woven a beautiful poem
that shall ever be spoken,
be sung, be read
by ones who cherish
true Freedom instead
of being once again enslaved
to power, to greed,
but rather hold their heads high
in days of darkness, in days of anger
and in times of need.

Yes, farewell dear America, farewell for now.
You are like a ship of mercy, of love and compassion
with a shining golden bow, and sails so strong that no winds can rend.
We look forward to sailing upon that ship soon,
yes, soon, once again.
