Farewell

Farewell to thee, farewell my soul
My weeping eyes now cannot see
Thou to thy haunted room can tell!
That thou forever dwell with me!

The magic of thy lovely tune
I carry with me in my breast
Without thee in this dreary world
I searched and searched but found no rest

In lonesome paths at nightly hours
I hovered moonlit vales alone
A thousand dreams of ancient days
In heart cemetery there I own

My aching heart now stop thou beat!
My moaning soul! don't trust someone!
These earthly people all betray
Someone sincere there is no one
He left the world with wistful eyes
Who loved thee he was only one
He was the moon of moonless nights
He was the shining summer sun
