Far From Home
I stand beneath a sky that is not mine,
a sky of glass towers,
of hot winds brushing past empty evenings.
Here, in this land of sand and silver lights,
I walk with pockets full of dreams
and a heart heavy with the sound of home.
I left my mountains,
the smell of wet soil after rain,
the quiet voice of my mother calling my name,
the laughter of my people echoing through narrow lanes.
I left it all
to carve a future my family can lean on,
to build a tomorrow stronger than today.
Some nights,
loneliness sits beside me like an old friend
we share silence,
we share the ache of miles stretched
between my heart and my homeland.
I think of those I love,
their hopes resting on my tired shoulders,
and suddenly the distance becomes a prayer,
not a burden.
Here where i m standing is a place of light
new roads, new chances, new courage
but still,
my soul carries the footsteps of Kashmir.
I breathe the air of another land
while living for the day I return,
hands full, heart full,
with stories of struggle, patience,
and dreams finally earned.
Until then,
I keep moving,
I keep working,
I keep believing.
For every sunrise here
is a promise there
that this journey,
this sacrifice,
will one day touch the lives of the ones
I miss the most.
