Nobody lives forever
Even if they wish they could
Nobody lives a fantasy
Even if they try to do it
We fell for each other
Like stars exploding in the night
It was magical and fierce
A truly beautiful sight
But, I put us before my partner
And he dearly paid the price
It's time to get some perspective
Of my career and my life
You're a special kind of wonderful
And I don't regret our passion
You reminded me of life's beauty
That being a cop is only part of the action
No matter where our paths take us
Whether we're together or far apart
You'll be close inside of me
Always a big part of my heart
And maybe our love will remain a fantasy
Maybe we'll live in denial as we grow old
But, at least we did our very best
To love authentically and boldly
Nobody lives forever
We have one life to love and live
You will always be my fantasy
A gift of life's best experiences
