Famous Last Words
Who knows what prompts the decision
To go to war in a boys head
Patriotic or just silly
Now, is the worst case to dread
Hands up, he's caught remembering
Not so far back, to his childhood
Surprised the stove gave him a burn
Even though mama said it would
Then the thought popped in his head
Perhaps by one on higher
How dangerous it must of been
Back in the days of open fire!
As he fell, it billowed up
That acrid gunpowder cloud
With bullets caught, his last thought,
"Did I say that out loud?"
