Family Ties

Family ties should always end in a bow, Never in a knot. They should be footloose from time to time, But a little butter on the feet, Helps when it is time to find the way home. Family ties need a traditional base, For when the ride gets rough. We should not forget, That mixing with a little water helps, When ties need to be softened. So they do not become brittle beyond repair. Family ties formed outside the law, Usually end in broken hearts, And doors being locked, With forgiveness in short supply. When new ties are formed, The old ones should not be left to gather dust. Apron ties are never meant to be permanent, As over time they can strangle new growth, And knots replace what were once bows, Oh, so lovingly tied and sealed with kisses.
