Clever write! Makes one think of the plant, a spider, too, and a human mother and child.

We call it "Hen-and-chicken" - it was only during an online discussion here at PS that I learned that it is more commonly called a Spider plant. We live and learn and I love the process. ;-)

Hi Suzette: Love the clever association. This form is similar to Bantus. Also, I had these plants growing along the side of my garage. They do spread and propagate easily. SuZ

I love these hardy plants. Thanks for reading:)) What, may I ask, is "Bantus"? I can't find it in a Google search, other than references to the ethnic group (of which I am not one).

It is a harmless house plant endemic to Africa. It propagates mainly by forming new plants (roots and all) on the long draping stems just after flowering in spring. It reminds me of a mother that knows what may lie in store for her little girl when she in turn will become a mother one day ...
