Fallen Stars

fallen stars

like falling stars
fading souls appear to be
as they depart from this earth

to experience
their bright and streaming light
in their prime
their brilliance amazes
and overwhelms me

their absence leaves me
alone and grief stricken
yet grateful for all of
the beauty they
brought to my existence

fallen stars
shall I never
forget your
translucent
illumination
until my own
final hours
