Fallen Rose Petals
Fallen rose petals scattered on the ground
Remnants of her beautiful bloom lying all around
Torrential rain and gusting winds have torn them all apart
She sits alone in her room with a sad and broken heart
Fallen rose petals with edges curled and brown
The smile that once shown bright is now a sullen frown
The stem stands tall and bare where a flower once was worn
Pink shades of happiness have left a spine of thorns
Fallen rose petals - fragmented memories of a younger life
Never picked for a floral bouquet – never taken for a wife
