Fallen Branches

A cool breeze blows upon my neck

Laughter fills the air

Bright stars above me

Embedded roots below me

No one here beside me

Reaching out for no one

Talking to myself

Laughing at my humor

Holding onto air

Inhaling emptiness

Exhaling loneliness

Cloudless skies above me

Whispering leaves below me

No shadow beside me

No shoulder to cry on

No one to catch my tears

Listening to the silence

Inhaling stupidity

Exhaling regret

A million trees above me

Fallen branches below me

No one here beside me.
