Fake News
I have read love cures all ills and when
someone professes their love, it means
they will be yours forever. I am now alone.
The magazine wrote that a friend is forever
and they will stick by you when everyone
else abandons you. I now have fewer friends.
Poems have praised the power of prose
but some poems turn me into a crybaby
or a dreamer.
Books have said the lady at the entrance to
New York welcomes all who hunger for
freedom and comfort. Than we ban people.
I’ve read that my taxes will be less as we go
forward and good paying jobs are around
the corner. Making less than five years ago.
I keep reading that war is necessary to protect
our freedom. We send our sons and daughters
to fight for control of the oil.
I have read the Russians are our friends and they
did not messed in our elections. I read the
findings from an investigation and wonder.
I now know what Fake News really means.
