Failed Potential

I watch with hungry eyes as your innocence explores my world.
Your delicate mouth curls at the novelty,
I do not break the gaze.
I have long since mediated my existence and
Ordinary is haunting my footsteps.

I see what you are desperately trying to hide,
ghostly slivers break through the carefully constructed.
Ordinary is haunting your footsteps,
Artificial intelligence; spell check and a thesaurus.

You have been gone for some time and
Oceanic organic tears mark the occasion.
Congratulations, they have been successfully convinced.
Mass mourning of some one that is lost,
When you have been gone for a long time.

You have taken the path that has been over-traveled
And your footsteps have become ordinary.
Extra ordinary.
