Fading Smiles
fading smiles are all that's left
once the mental mercury rises
an ocean of emotion
gives way to waves
crashing ever so brutal
upon the shoulders
of a loving wife
the rough and heavy surf
chasing her from room to room
the shear force of the tide
drags her in deeper
pulling her down and away
trapping her emotionally
all the while keeping
support and hope at bay
when dreams are all that you have left
to once again remind you
that time has come to seek life anew
to once again enjoy it all
soft grass with morning dew
and a gentle heart to beat with yours
