The days and time are unimportant
they were real long ago
and have become fading photographs
kept in my mind
pictures held onto like prison bars
with no escape
memories I've folded in time
some are of lovers, some are of lost friends
some are of places I'll never see again
they're pinned to the spokes of time's turning wheel
they come round and round
flickering shadows and shaded silhouettes
endlessly spinning
covered in ashes traveling through time
something to think about, there to remind
something to see when the mind is alone
pictures of yesterday that remain
fading away until they are gone
like dying grapes on a dead vine
becoming memories of memories
I won't remember
