Fading Dreams

I hoped to one day love again But today I am not sure about me, I thought of myself as lucky to reach twenty-one Yet I am not sure about twenty-three If I will never marry or have kids What else is there to live for? In the end you lose all you had, standing alone Was it all worth fighting for? I had dreams just like you About a house with a picket fence, But all my dreams are fading fast And it’s not all present tense I sit at home and cry at night After you have gone to work, Asking myself if you are happy Because sometimes you look hurt You sometimes say you never wanted Anyone else in your life, So I take a step away No chance to be a wife I do not want you to go through it again Cause you have seen it once before, Now all I can ask is one question Do you want me out the door? Whatever it takes for you to be happy I am willing to do, So now that I have said my peace I’m leaving the choice to you.
